Castile Lady
The clothing is
inspired by the manuscript Libro de los Juegos (made for King
Alfonso in 1283) and by the artifacts preserved in Museo de las
Telas Medievales de Burgos. The garment consists of a striped
pellote, a red saya encordada, a camisa margomanda (embroidered
smock), typical castilian headdress (capiello castellano), the
belt and embroidered purse. The purse inspired by the
extant piece
from Toledo cathedral is richly embroidered by long legged
cross stitch.
Next page represents
details of the belt.
