Castile Lady
The clothing is
inspired by the manuscript Libro de los Juegos (made for King
Alfonso in 1283) and by the artifacts preserved in Museo de las
Telas Medievales de Burgos. The garment consists of a striped
pellote, a red saya encordada, a camisa margomanda (embroidered
smock), typical castilian headdress (capiello castellano), the
belt and embroidered purse. The red saya encordada is sewn
according to the
extant piece
belonging to the Eleanor de Castila, Queen of Aragon
(+1244).
Next pages represent
the smock and details of the belt and purse.
