Flemish townswoman

A common type of robe used in the first half of 15th century. This particular construction was inspired by Rogier Van der Weyden's painting (The deposition, Museo del Prado, Madrid, 1430-35). The garment is made of a wool, on the chest lined by another thick woolen textile. The edges of sleeves and neckline are decorated by an artificial fur. The brocade headdress  is based on Rogier Van der Weyden's Seven sacraments altarpiece (Musee royal des Beaux Arts, Anvers, 1445-50).
