The Costume of French Citizen

  The costume is loosely based on illuminations in René d'Anjou - Livre des tournois (1460), Alte Armatur und Ringkunst (Copenhagen, Kongelige Bibliothek, Hans Talhoffers, Thott 290 2, 1459) and Grimani Breviary (1450) manuscripts. The costume consists of underwear, shirt, dark green woolen, red woolen paltock and yellow wollen doublet with cutted sleeves. Similar sleeves can be seen in Talhoffer (f.96v, 96r, 129v), high shoes in Livre des tournois (f.11) and a hat (f19). The dress accessories are: belt with embroidered golden fleur-de-lis (done by the owner), leather pouches, ring and the necklace.
