Rococo fan

The fan consists of a gilded plastic sticks imitating tortoise-shell and hand painted paper fan-leaf trimmed with metal spangles. The fan was mainly inspired by the folding fan showing a courteous scene, Western Europe, 1770, the State Hermitage Museum. Colored graphics in medallions were taken from the unmounted fan-leaf, c. 1782, the British Museum and hand colored with water colors. Then the fan-leaf was painted in gouache.
